Brownie And Max - Expected To Make Full Recoveries

A California cat (Max, black and white) and Indiana cat (Brownie, orange and white) each used up one of their nine lives after they surprizingly both survived an arrow being shot through their heads in two seperate cases.

Max, a three-year-old domestic shorthair living in Santa Cruz, was reportedly shot with the arrow sometime over the weekend and so far authorities have no leads into who injured him. After his owners discovered his injury, Max was rushed to a local veterinary hospital for surgical removal of the weapon under general anesthetic. It was situated 5-8cm into the cat's head but had thankfully missed his brain. Max was left with a punctured ear but he was not left with any permanent damage.

Brownie from Monrow County has also dealt with the same situation as his fellow feline Max. He was rescued by an animal management officer and was found with a 13 inch arrow puncturing the front of his head. During emergency surgery and x-rays, local veterinarians said the arrow entered above his eye, tore muscles and had just skimmed the edge of his skull.

Sarah Hayes, CEO of the Monroe County Humane Association said stories like Brownie's are just one of many that compel them to work harder to get tougher animal cruelty laws. She also said their next mission is to find out who caused his injury.

The Monroe County Humane Association is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
